Training
- There is a minimum of 130 hours of live training required, including testing. The training sessions must be spread over a period no less than 18 days. An additional supervised out of school training of at least 15 hours is necessary.
- The contents of the training, along with a rough time schedule and the names of the two fellow member trainers that are conducting the training will be approved by the IANLP office prior to the start of the training courses.
- 80% of the live training (which should be designed by two fellow member trainers) must be led by a fellow member trainer, while the other 20% can by led by any other qualified person, but with the supervision of a trainer. Each group of 15 participants or more has to be supervised by a person with NLP trainer certification or higher.
Abilities
The candidates should master the following concepts and techniques, upon certification as an NLP trainer:
- Complete behavioral competence in all NLP-Master level skills, ability to do NLP-Practitioner and NLP-Master techniques simultaneously both overtly and covertly.
- Demonstrate facility to shift between content and form (i.e., between experience and labeling) and different logical levels (R. Dilts).
- Ability to demonstrate behavior of what one is teaching and to teach what one is doing - and to label it linguistically (Model Self).
- Graceful interventions in group settings; maintaining rapport and giving sensory specific feedback;
- Ecological work with individuals and groups, utilizing of group processes and students' resources; competence in group leading and conflict management;
- Rapport with self, individuals and group; Pacing and leading;
- Professional self-management; respect for audience (i.e., keeping separate one's model of the world from that of others, responding congruently to differing models of the world, considering and responding ecologically to others; conscious and unconscious processes);
- Behavioral integration of NLP presuppositions in group work;
- Knowledge of psychological and neurobiological concepts, psychotherapeutic methods and common communication models, as well as their integration into NLP.
Testing
The testing should demonstrate the knowledge and proper integration of the concepts listed above. Each test is designed by a fellow member trainer. The tests should be stored for at least three years after the testing date.
Practical testing
The practical test is held at the end of the NLP trainer training. The trainer is free to design this testing in order to demonstrate the fulfillment of the criteria required for certification. It will enable the participants to demonstrate their personal integration of trainer skills into each one's personal field of presentation.
The certificate
The NLP Trainer certificate contains:
- a statement that the training was held in accordance with IANLP standards
- the original seal of IANLP
- a statement of the duration of the training period
- the exact date of the beginning and end of training
- the name and signature of a fellow IANLP member trainer
- the title NLP-Trainer IANLP
